Hi, my name is Saarini
Actor. Singer. Dancer.
Are you wondering how to pronounce my name?
Let me help you out: saw - ree - nee. Now say it fast. Saarini! You got it.
Beyond the phonetic collection of sounds, my name has a significant meaning to who I am. In Indian classical music, we use sa, ri, ni as Solfège - very similar to do, re, mi. Another level to this, Saarini also translates to ascending and Anusaarini means descending in Carnatic music. So it’s no surprise that I’ve leaned into my artistic side since I was given the name.
These artistic roots run deeper than my name. My great-grandfather, a master of Harikatha - a blend of storytelling, music, and dance to narrate Indian mythology - paved the way to his own national dance drama touring company in India where my parents met and performed. Inspired by his passion, my parents founded a dance company in California, where they had me. Within this vibrant environment, I first discovered my love for the stage.
Since then, I’ve been ascending into my own artistry of Indian classical dance, musical theater, singing, acting, and other art forms. I continue to grow in these fields with consistent training and experiences so that I can truly embody name.
